This thread exists for the developing a management site for patches located at:
http://patch-manager.dskw.de

current status / features:
* maintainer registration
* managing updates
* managing requirements (+ svn / cvs revision number)
* RSS feeds
* mark patch as "merged"
* ticket system
|- posting bugs, requests, suggestions
|- commenting tickets
|- setting status of tickets
* new list style with sort options for all columns

planed features:
* email notification for new tickets
* program author account - can set patches as merged

If you have any suggestions for the site, post them here and we can talk about possible implementations.
But don't forget that this should not become as big as a subversion / trac system D

NEWS:
(21.07.2007) the patches list has been updated with new columns and new sort features
[Q]



(18.07.2007) a program list has been added. You can now choose the program out of a list or add a new one. Programs not used by any patch will be removed on the next day.

I don't think it would be limited to awn only because it's useful for any kind of patch and any kind of program / library.

BTW, nobody has answered, if the second design has the mentioned awn-colors or not, because I don't see any specific colors on the other sites (wetpaint, neils blog or here). The only hint I have is the screenshot of awn.

I dunno...this seems like a waste of time. Neil should just let some of the coders here he trusts gain access to the SVN and then be able to update automatically.

Yeah I know - I've mentioned this in the other thread too but the problem is that Neil isn't always online and it seems to me that he is not working very much with subversion when he is away for some time. This way it could be a problem if he is working offline on new features for awn, while others update the sources, making it hard to implement new code he made with a local version.

I do this because I have the free time for it - If you really don't need such a site and settle with the simple patch site like it's now tell me and I'll stop working on it - It just came up in the patch thread.

I think the design of the second one is less good than the first one. I actually meant that another color would be prettier and gived you the example of the default colors of AWN. The header was better in the first I think...

I'm a AWN user since it's early builds and a regular reader of this forums for some time but didn't have registered an account on it until today. Having said that I'm offering my skills as a Frontend Developer (XHTML/CSS) to help you guys on the development of the patch site.

If you like, dskw, I could handle the structure and presentation's layers development while you focus on the server side. The only thing I need are mockup images for the site.

There are still some pages to be thought of, like the administration area for posting updates, managing and posting bugs, login, and the detailed display of a bug report (more than one line of description)

Ok, thanks. I got your mail and am working on it as we speak. Currently, I'm just cutting away unnecessary stuff: I've put all 12 tab images (with selected and rollover states) into one image, w/ text. You'll see. Plus I've killed a lot of the css. I'm marking it all off with comments, If you want some other way, I'd gladly do it. If you can tell me how to make a patch, I could do that if you want.

A patch would be problematic, as I am continuously working on the source, so I think it would be better (at least for me) to include your changes manually.

A little question, how is the job going? I have seen much come alive on /v2 \o/, but I didn't dare to test it further. I know it's still early, but could you say a timespan wherein the website would be done?

v1 - the root address, is fully usable and will be until v2 is finished.
This way you can use it instead of pastebin and bring the patches to v2 when it's time for the switch ;-)

Concerning the development:
I've done most of the frontend in the last 2 days and only a litte on the backend. There is still much to be done until it's usable but I'll try to do my best all day tomorrow to get it working. (at last for posting patches + updates)

But take your time. I'm not asking to put some speed on it, but for planning when I will have the system. I'm still building patches now, but now I'm not looking to fix something, but to understand the system totally. So my next patches will fix a lot more...

Hey, I'm done with a few small things. I've so far redone completely how the tabs work (under the hood). Adding a tab is just as easy as adding a <li>. I don't think you need that yet, but seeing as how many features you want to add, that may become usefull. I hid the actual logo file, since it seemed kind of wasteful to include a giant image just for some little text.

Currently it only looks a bit defferent because of the logo (if you dont have teh right font). That's it.

I'm testing whether I didn't break any other pages as I was only originally working with index.html, but it seems all right.
[Q]



Make sure to read the comments on index.html and in the main.css.
If you strip out my comments and commented-out code, the whole thing is a bit smaller.

Ok, I've merged your work into the site an I must say:
The thing with the tabs is a really impressive trick!
I've worked with background positioning before, but I never had the idea to do something like this with it D

As for the head image:
I'm keeping the image because the headline can look really, really horrible with the wrong font and I think ~5.3kb don't hurt D
[Q]



Take a look at the other pages, but be warned:
I've coded some horrible things in some cases just out of laziness like in the "add ticket" form.
If you need any new images or rescaled ones, tell me and you'll get them

I just wanted to give a small update of what is done so far:

- when one field isn't filled in, you get a message AND ALL THE STUFF YOU ALREADY TYPED IS GONE :-(. Sorry I do it in capitals, but I had to fill in everything twice ...
- adding a patch doesn't work (not with textfield/ not with uploading) Always the error that it wasn't filled in
- the textarea's may be a little bit (much more) bigger
- I would love if it's possible to add also a SVN version as requirement :-)

I really cannot understand where this came from because everything was fine when I tested it. Somehow some typos sneaked in.

Anyway, it's fixed now - patch title and program are marked as required, description and link are optional.
Posting a patch as text or file works.
The textarea of the patch form is now much bigger.

It seems that pastebin doesn't support UTF-8 characters (russian and greek translations contain UTF-8 characters). Pastebin also changes LF (line feed, unix newline format) to CR/LF (carriage return + line feed, windows newline format). In this particular patch CRs aren't an issue but there can be patches which don't apply properly if LFs are converted to CR/LFs.

Sorry took my some time to figure out what was causing this.
Had to set some binary options in the mysql db and different handling of slashes for file uploads.

A suggestion:
When I'm logged in patch manager I can see only my patches in "All patches" tab. If I want to see others patches, I have to logout. Could you change it so that logged users can also see others patches?
